Revealed in our 2020 Autumn/Winter 2020 Trends Report, we give Aussies an insight into the pieces that are trending this season, based on customer purchases from across the globe.

Silhouettes And Styles For The Season

As we head towards winter, a coat will be on the top of many Aussies’ list of fashion items. The Afterpay trends report reveals that the puffer is set to be the must-have style, having remained consistently en-vogue since they went down the runway at Balenciaga in 2006. A Teddy coat will also be equally as covetable this season with bombers, chequered coats and floral jackets on the list of cosy essentials.

Everybody loves an ‘it’ dress and as the weather changes, Aussies will be looking to invest in covered-up silhouettes. The trends show that long-sleeved and midi-length styles will be popular and that Aussies will be turning to knitted materials to keep them warm.

We partner with some of the best retailers in the world to share insights on what customers are shopping and what they’re loving this season.

Prints And Palettes For The Cooler Months

Good news for fans of nostalgic designs, the ‘80s-era logomania trend is here to stay with logos being the top print for AW20. Likely influenced by the wide spectrum of graphic motifs seen in Gucci’s Pre-Fall collection, it looks like graphics will continue to be popular in the coming months, think C&M logo tees, Country Road bringing back their logo heritage sweaters and PE NATION logos on everything, including socks.

If you’re curating your colour palette, grey shades are the unlikely hue of the season. The subtle colour is part of a family of neutrals that are having a tonal moment, with shades of brown and beige expected to be seen styled head to toe. For some colour, Aussies should consider looking to blues and pinks, both perfect complements to the grey.

Jessica Vander Leahy, Model and Afterpay AW20 Ambassador says, “I love fashion and styling, so each season, looking ahead to the trends is something I look forward to. This Autumn, as we continue to WFH and distance ourselves socially, I think we can still have fun with our wardrobe, and the Afterpay Autumn/Winter Trends Report has been a great guide for me to decide which pieces to invest in, and which of the latest looks will make me look my best for Zoom meetings.”
